How to connect to OVM (Oracle Virtualization Manager) CLI?

In case OVM we are doing most of work from GUI by logging using admin credentials. All the work which we are doing on GUI can be done on CLI as well.

Now question arises whats the need of that?

Answer : You will see the consolidated information in output of command which are run from OVM CLI instead of clicking here and their in GUI. I found it pretty useful.

Step 1 : To do this first we have to take the putty session to OVM IP address.

Step 2 : At OVM CLI issue the below command to go into OVM prompt. I have shown the use of help on OVM.

root@mylabovm01 ~> ssh -l admin mylabovm01 -p 10000
Warning: the DSA host key for ‘[mylabovm01]:10000’ differs from the key for the IP address ‘[10.120.160.10]:10000’
Offending key for IP in /root/.ssh/known_hosts:3
Matching host key in /root/.ssh/known_hosts:8
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes
admin@mylabovm01’s password:

OVM> ?
add
create
delete
edit
exit
help
list
remove
set
show
showallcustomcmds
showcustomcmds
showobjtypes
showversion

We are having plenty of commands to use on this prompt. Kindly follow the oracle documentation OVM CLI for details. Simply type “exit” to come out of this prompt.

OVM> exit
OVM> Connection to thn1olabovm01 closed.
